John Anton LEONARCZYK

1892 - 1954

John Anton LEONARCZYK was born 13 Jun 1892, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, a son of Thomas and Antonina (KWIATOWSKI) LEONARCZYK.

John served 3 years in the U.S. 21st Regiment Infantry.

About 1914, John married Bessie PIASECKI. They had at least six children: Walentyna, known as Violet (1916); Mary, known as Marie (1917); John (1919-1919); Thomas (1921-1921); Loraine Bernice (1926-1927); and Dorothy Theresa (1930).

The family lived with his wife and child at 5016 W. 30th Place, Cicero, when he registered in 1917 for the military draft. He worked for a crane company, Redzie Air, as a machine operator. He was of medium height and stout build, with brown hair and blue eyes.

By 1930, he owned their home at 5410 W. 30th Place, Cicero. John, Bessie, Violet, and Marie were recorded in the census. He was working at the railroad, as a foreman.

In the 1940, according to the census, he owned their home at 2934 S. 53rd Avenue, Cicero. John, Bessie, Marie, and Dorothy were recorded in the census. He was working at the railroad as a coal shute operator. Marie was a file clerk at a mail order house.

His 1942 Draft Registration card shows the correct home address of 2940 S. 53rd Avenue, Cicero. He worked for Chicago, Burlinton & Quincy Railroad.

John Anton LEONARCZYK died 06 Apr 1954, in Cicero, and was buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Cook County, Illinois.
