The Nazis took him to the initial interrogation room and asked him, 'What is your name?' He said, 'Langner.' Because that is a German name, they asked him, 'Why are you fighting your countrymen?' Next, the Nazis asked, 'Where are you from?' When Bob answered, 'Cicero,' all the guards around him stepped forward and cocked their machine guns. They were afraid everyone from Cicero was a dangerous gangster. He spent about a year or so in the prisoner of war camp. He came back home after being released when the war was over. His picture was published in the local Cicero Life newspaper. He was pictured in his bunk rack. Bob recovered and was in good shape.
