The home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hass, 151 King street, Waterloo, will be the scene of festivities throughout today, tonight and tomorrow when their family and friends assemble there to tender them best wishes in honor of their golden wedding anniversary, which falls tomorrow.

This afternoon prior to the supper suitable presentations are ito be made from the children to the golden bride and bridegroom. Married in Heidelberg

Mr. and Mrs. were married in the Lutheran church at Heidelberg on September 22, 50 years ago. Rev. Mr. Brenzing performed the ceremony. The bridesmaid was Miss Beverley Holsworth and the bride's brother, Mr. Philip Koch was the best man. Before her marriage Mrs. Hass was Miss Caroline Koch, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Koch. She was born in St. Jacobs and lived there until her marriage. Mr. Hass was born in Germany, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hass, and came to this country with his parents when a small tot. The family settled in Heidelberg and Mr. Hass lived there with them until his marriage when he and his bride took up residence in Conestogo. The family lived in Conestogo where Mr. Hass was engaged as a carpenter and wagon maker, for about 20 years, when they moved to Waterloo where they have lived since that time. In recent years Mr. Hass has been occupied as a market gardener.

Mr. Hass has reached the age of 74 years and Mrs. Hass the age of 71 years. They are members of St. Peter's Lutheran church and at the festivities today Rev. Dr. H. A. Sperling, pastor of that church, was a special guest and addressed the assembled company briefly.

They are Mrs. Leonard Armstrong, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Salome McKlusky, Toronto; Mr. Irvin Hass, Kitchener; Mrs. Fred Wagner, Mishawaka, Ind.; Mrs. Winford Young, Detroit, Mich.; and Mrs. Stuart Davey, Waterloo. The house appears to be used for storage and possibly an office for some apartments attached at the rear of the home.

"During my late single digit years I visited the Hass Kings Street home with Grandma Nellie and Grandpa Lou. I remember having breakfast in a room having a large window overlooking the street. Wish I would have paid more attention to the inside of the house to remember more details, but my interests have always been with the great outdoors and Uncle Pat/Aunt Loretta had a most wonderful yard - and I really enjoyed Uncle Pat's pigeons. I have an undated photo of the house (1920s?). Another photo is one I took on a 2018 trip to Waterloo - so perhaps one of the last pics of the homestead."  [*MM]

"Growing up we had no connection to the Hass family except Elsie and her sister Lauretta (also spelled Loretta), who lived together at 151 King Street North, where my mother grew up. Lauretta's husband Herbert (Pat) died when I was 7. The house was sold in 1978 and the new owners converted it into student apartments, but just this past year the house was torn down for new condos. It was sad to see it go."  [*JL]

"They are standing on the 'Big Stone at Uncle George's farm'. I'm guessing this is George Koch, Caroline's brother. I've attached a photo that's identified as George Koch's farmhouse. I'm guessing the farm was in the Conestogo area. The name Knarr seems to be connected to Conestogo, and I have a postcard from the Conestogo Lutheran church that was mailed to Caroline when she lived in Berlin (Kitchener) from a Knarr." *[JL]
